Festival vibes at Anchorage Beach Club

September might be very much upon us (and with it, endless #PSL social feeds) but over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been in deep summer mode thanks to bank holiday weekends, long days and hot festival nights in the open air. And trust me, in the UK this is really something worth talking about.
One of my favourite summer experiences this year was undoubtedly Achorage Beach Club’s annual pop up club night in Mersea Island, just off the Essex coast. Now in its third year, the venue has hosted international DJs to high acclaim, which have started to put Anchorage on the map.

2017 was no different and, as soon as I saw the line up, I knew I had to be there. The incredible Sam Feldt and his talented band members, Q (on trumpet) and Tariq (saxophone), headlined the event, blasting some of their hit tracks and mixing all time favourite tunes from the likes of David Guetta, Don Diablo, Pep & Rash and many more.

I first heard these guys live last year at Corona Sunsets and have been waiting for them to come back to the UK ever since – they bring such energy to any festival and have so much interaction with the fans, I just can’t get enough. I mean.. just listen to one of his sets..
Festivals are also fantastic for discovering new artists and the night at Anchorage was the perfect place for that. DJ & producer Henri PFR, who played his fist ever show in the UK, was my discovery highlight. Releasing his debut as early as 14, he caught the ear of both the public and the EDM community with the release of his 2014 track Tarida (on none other than Armin Van Buuren’s label). Henri’s new single, Flames, perfectly shows his EDM style of deep house tunes and melodic vocals that are your ideal summer soundtrack. As they say.. Remember the name.

Anchorage also put a spotlight on versatile local DJs Joe Langenhan and house DJ and percussionist duo WM Music, who warmed up the stage and made us want to never stop dancing.
Mersea, thank you for showing us your beautiful island, and Anchorage, thank you for an experience we won’t forget for a long, long time. See you there next summer!
