It takes a single look at my blog or any of my social channels to see that two of my main passions are fashion and art. Creativity and the need for self-expression underpin them both, which is why I find these industries so incredibly captivating.

On my recent trip to Amsterdam I was reminded how much the Dutch design and innovative thinking has influenced these industries. I found the perfect blend of these at Morgan & Mees, where I had the opportunity to spend a night. This stylish boutique hotel is so pretty I wanted to take a picture every minute! No wonder it’s an Instagram favourite.

Morgan & Mees is situated in Jordaan, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, famous for housing the Anne Frank House. As the hotel is in a gorgeous and completely renovated historical building, it combines the characteristics of the heritage space with a contemporary twist. The concept of Morgan & Mees revolves around the encounter between an international traveller (Morgan) and a local (Mees), which makes the place perfect for drinking, dining and sleeping in the city.

Even before checking-in, we stopped at their spacious and full of natural light restaurant and bar for breakfast. If you’re a coffee addict like me you’ll love their cappuccinos. Follow up with a power smoothie (spinach, mango, banana, coconut water) for a delicious energy boost in the morning.

Whether it’s the bar, restaurant or the rooms, Morgan & Mees is characterized by constant quality and extremely good taste. This gorgeous place has nine unique rooms and suites, each different but following the same feel of timeless elegance and clean, contemporary design. Did I mention the three layer beds? You’ll feel like you’re starring in The Princess and the Pea! I loved the little details in the room too, especially our coffee table read – The Monocle Guide to Good Business – which again showed me the emphasis Amsterdam puts on nurturing entrepreneurial spirit.

And there’s no better way to unwind after a long day in the city than making the most of your room’s rainforest shower and premium hair, hand and body care products from the Amsterdam-based Marie Stella Maris (which you should check out too, they’re absolutely fabulous).  For a full indulgence, follow that with a hot chocolate, with extra whipped cream of course.

Simply writing this makes me want to go back already. Let me know if you’ve stayed or plan to visit the gorgeous Morgan & Mees. I can’t wait to see all the snaps! And trust me, there will be LOADS..
